If you love good times and the outdoors like we do, you won't want to miss the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Great Mountains Chapter's 16th annual banquet and fundraiser. We guarantee you a great time supporting a great cause!

This year's banquet is Saturday, August 8, 2009 at Harrah's Cherokee Casino Hotel. Doors open at 5:00 PM. During the "social hour" you'll enjoy drawings, raffles, games, drinks, and
the silent auction. Dinner and live auction will follow.

Since 1984, the Elk Foundation has permanently protected more than 1,100 square miles of critical elk habitat. We've opened up more than 500,000 acres of previously closed lands for the public to hunt, fish and roam. And, we've greatly enhanced another 5.3 million acres of elk country. In addition, the Elk Foundation has funded more than 5,700 projects to promote conservation education and North America's hunting heritage.

In North Carolina, the Elk Foundation has enhanced 425 acres of critical habitat for elk restored to Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Elk once roamed North Carolina, but were gone from the state by 1750. Beginning in 2001, the Elk Foundation and National Park Service released elk into the Park as an experimental population. Today more than 100 elk roam the Park, and wildlife officials say they are here to stay. By joining us Saturday, August 8th, you'll help us do even more.

This year's banquet: We will be celebrating the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation's 25th anniversary and will have many commemorative items in our raffles and auctions. There will be unique and exciting items for the whole family! If you have never attended a banquet, this is a great year to join the fun and excitement!

Help support wildlife conservation and have a great time!
