Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Saturday, February 13, 2010 |
|
Dear Members and Friends of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation,
If you love good times and the outdoors like we do, you won't want to miss the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation's Neuse River Chapter, 5th annual banquet and fundraiser. We guarantee you a great time supporting a great cause.
This year's banquet is Saturday, February 13, 2010 at the Swansboro Rotary Club and Civic Center. Doors open at 5:30PM. During the "social hour" you'll enjoy drawings, raffles, games, drinks and the silent auction. Dinner and the live auction will follow.
Proceeds from this event will go to support RMEF's vital conservation efforts. Need proof? Since 1984, the Elk Foundation has:
-
Permanently protected more than 1,400 square miles of critical elk habitat
- Opened more than 590,000 acres to the public to hunt, fish and roam.
- Improved habitat across 4.8 million acres of elk country
- Funded more than 6,500 projects to promote conservation education and North America's hunting heritage.Few organizations can boast such numbers
- a reflection of the efficiency that earned RMEF a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator.
Local RMEF chapter events raise the lion’s share of the funding for Elk Foundation conservation work. In NorthCarolina, funds raised at RMEF Big Game Banquets have helped complete 35 conservation projects valued at morethan $2 million. Our work in North Carolina also includes funding conservation education and hunting heritageactivities that introduce young people and women to the outdoors, promote hunter safety and responsibility, andinvolve kids in conservation.
In North Carolina, the Elk Foundation has enhanced 425 acres of critical elk habitat for elk restored to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Elk once roamed North Carolina, but were gone from the state by 1850. Beginning in 2001, the Elk Foundation and the National Park Service released elk into the park as an experimental population. Today more than 100 elk roam the park and wildlife officials say they are here to stay. By joining us on Saturday, February 13, 2010, you'll help us do even more.
As our guest you can expect a delicious dinner and a wonderful night of bidding and bragging with old and new friends. Conservation is our goal and we hope you will join us in promoting this cause in our state. We will feature various rifles and shotguns from Browning, Winchester, Ruger and Remington. Great optics too! Scopes and Binoc's, limited edition wildlife prints, numerous knives, jewelery, trips and much more.
